My name is Marguerite Marcella Mannix. I was born in NYC in 1993 and am based in Austin & Marfa, TX. I am a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, drawing, photography, video, music, and installation. I am best known for my vibrant abstract paintings inspired by light, sound, and color as an ancient therapeutic element; as well as my film photography inspired by Impressionist paintings, western locations, and personal narrative. My work is primarily focused on duality and the human experience. My paintings are expressive, conceptual, and synesthetic, sometimes incorporating interactive elements such as the use of tuning forks to harmonize with the frequency of color. Although the materials and visual characteristics of my art vary, I am alway interested in the duality of nature and human nature, as well as having a dialogue between the art historical canon and contemporary life.
