About Marguerite

Marguerite Marcella is a multidisciplinary artist whose practices range from painting, photography, video, drawing, writing, sound and light installation.

Like a yin yang, her work is rooted in natural duality. Working as a professional photographer light is her constant inspiration, and if you ask her what she is painting the answer is simple: light. Her painting process is intuitive, gestural, and acts as a form of color therapy. Her paintings evoke a sense of joy, wonder, and playful artistry. She is known for her distinctly dreamy color palettes as well as her boundary-less approach to creativity and inspiration. She mixes her colors on the canvas to reveal the unexpected. Like a keleidoscope, a stained glass window, or a prism that breaks up light into individual rainbows, the result is a view of natural beauty and inner worlds.

Marguerite graduated from UT Austin with a BA in Art History. She then moved to LA where for six years she gained experience working in the music, film, and fine art industries. She currently resides in Austin where she continues to work as a freelance photographer and devote herself to her art practice.

Commissions:

My commission process is collabortive in nature. I approach each piece as a medly of my practice and your story. We’ll work together gathering inspiration from various works, colors, compositions, and the space the art will live in. I will then create a custom color palette for you based on our discussions, and upon your aproval begin initial layers and gestures on the canvas. You will also experience the evolution of the work as I share my progress throughout.
